Funeral services for William D. Thursby, III are Friday

Funeral services for William David Thursby, III, 56, of Cairo, Ga., are at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, at the chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo. The Rev. Kenneth Cloud and Dustin Wells will officiate. Services will conclude at the chapel. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo. Mr. Thursby passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013, at his home in Cairo.
Active pallbearers will be Bobby Moore, Shawn Gray, Matt Reynolds, Steven Reynolds, Charles Barnes and Robert Cogan.  
Mr. Thursby was born on Nov. 19, 1956, in Cairo to the late William D. “Bill” Thursby, Jr., and Vivian Oates Thursby. On Nov. 6, 2004, he married Susan Austin Thursby, who survives. Mr. Thursby was a graduate of Leon High School. David was the plantation farm manager for Gem Land Company/Cherokee Plantation for 35 years. He was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church in Jefferson County, Fla. David loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include: wife, Susan Thursby of Cairo, Ga.; sons, William D. “Will” Thursby, IV, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Stephen Rackley of Tallahassee; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Matt Radley of Thomasville, Ga.; grandchildren, Reeslyn Thursby and Ragan Thursby, both of Tallahassee; sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy Ann Cogan of Jacksonville, Fla., and Anita Lynn and Steve Reynolds of Bainbridge, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
