TCCHS wins big

The Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets scored 29 unanswered points in the first quarter and added 10 more by the half to lead the Cairo Syrupmakers 39-0, racking up 339 yards of offense. The Syrupmakers never mounted a steady attack in the first half, turning the ball over twice, once after driving to the Jacket 10 yard line trailing 21-0.
To Cairo’s credit however,  the Makers never gave up,  shutting the Yellow Jackets out in the second half, and scored twice on runs by PJ Davis of 51 yards and a five yard run by Donald Thomas.  Cairo’s defense  held Central’s starting quarterback, Adam Choice and running backs, Deondre Cooksey and Shaquiel Coleman to a total of 70 yards in the second half until they were substituted for with a little more than 5 minutes left to play in the game.
Cairo will now travel to Cordele to play Crisp County next Friday night.  That is also an 8 p.m. kickoff.
