CHS Touchdown Club will meet Friday

Looking for a free meal and a free admission to this Friday night’s scrimmage game? Cairo High School Athletic Director Todd Jones has announced that the CHS Booster Club has undergone a reorganization, and by volunteering with the new club you get a free meal and a pass to the scrimmage. The club, formerly the Cairo Booster Club, has been renamed the “Cairo High School Touchdown Club” and will mainly raise money to benefit the CHS football program. The club will hold an organizational meeting this Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in the CHS cafeteria. The club will be looking for volunteers to help with fund raisers throughout the year.
“Years ago the Booster Club served as the main fund raising organization of the Cairo High School Athletic Department. Through the years, most sports have created their own separate booster clubs, and the original booster club mainly raised money for the football program. So the focus of the original booster club will be reorganized to center mainly on raising money for the CHS football program and will now be called the Cairo High School Touchdown Club,” said Jones.
To get organized, Jones is inviting anyone interested in helping with the Touchdown Club to attend a brief organizational meeting before the preseason scrimmage game with Tift County Friday night, Aug. 12, at the Cairo High School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. The main purpose of the first meeting will be to gather names and numbers of interested fans.  Everyone who attends the organizational meeting and volunteers their time will receive a free supper before the game and a free pass to the scrimmage game.
“We aren’t asking for membership fees or a lot of your time, the more volunteers we get, the less work there will be for everyone,” said Jones.
