Syrupmakers take the air out of Tornadoes

The Syrupmakers celebrate Patrick Asbell’s three run homer against Monroe Monday.

The Syrupmakers picked up another region baseball win with a 10-0 shutout over the Monroe Tornadoes in five innings Monday night at Cairo High School.
Cairo scored three runs in the first inning, four in the second, including a three-run homer by Patrick Asbell. Cairo added two more in the third and one in the fifth for the win.
Jonathan Moore had a double in the first inning and scored two runs.
Chas Funderburk singled and scored in the first and second innings.
Connor Butler had two singles, one in the second and one in the third and scored three runs. Asbell scored one run and drove in two more with his second inning homer,
Bailey Lewis singled and drove in a run as well.
Brandon McCrary had singles in the second and the game winner in the fifth.
Chris Layton started on the mound for the Makers and struck out four batters, giving up one hit. 
Jennings Childree struck out three batters and gave up just one hit in the win.
