James Bowen named All-American

James Bowen
Bowen, a member of the Cairo High School swim team and the Area Tallahassee Aquatics Club, was nominated by his coach in Tallahassee. The award is based on his performance in the pool, by times, and his grade point average at Cairo High School. Bowen currently has a 3.77 GPA at Cairo High School.
As a Syrupmaker swimmer, Bowen placed second in the state his sophomore year and fourth his junior year in the 100-meter butterfly event.
Bowen, who hopes to earn a swimming scholarship for college, has narrowed his choices to Georgia Tech, North Carolina State and Emory.
The award letter James received said, “USA Swimming is very proud of you. It is no small accomplishment to achieve success both in the swimming pool and in the classroom.”
“We are very proud of James and this accomplishment. James is an outstanding student athlete who always gives his best,” said CHS Principal David McCurry.
James is the son of David and Diane Bowen.
