Funeral services for J.R. “Ron” Newberry are Friday

Active pallbearers will be Jason Lynn, Dustin Starling, Jason Lodge, Ken Young, Billy Jowers and Dwight McCollough.
Mr. Newberry was born on August 5, 1964, in Jacksonville, FL, to James Kelly Newberry and Adelaide McCollough Newberry. He served his country in the U. S. Army as a paratrooper and in the military police. He also participated in the liberation of Grenada. Ron married Jenni Lodge Newberry on July 23, 2003, who survives. He was the warehouse manager for Ken Young Company. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include: wife, Jenni Lodge Newberry of Whigham, GA; daughter, Maddie Newberry of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Kelly Newberry of Whigham, GA and Jacob Newberry of Whigham, GA; parents, James Kelly and Adelaide M. Newberry of Whigham, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Ralph Mattone of Lexington, SC; nieces, Ashlee Joy and Emily Mattone of Lexington, SC, Allie McDonald of Kettering, OH; nephews, Christopher Mattone of Lexington, SC, Tucker McDonald of Kettering, OH; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Franklin and Annette Lodge of Whigham, GA; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Angela and Todd McDonald of Kettering, OH, Jason Lodge of Whigham, GA; and Jenni’s grandfather, Holmes Maxwell of Whigham, GA.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Myrtle and Paul Newberry and Leonard and Annis McCollough.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the funeral home.
