Maids take third in region, head to state tourney

The Cairo Syrupmaids went 3-2 in the region 1-AAA tournament last week and finished third overall in the region.  The Syrupmaids will now travel to Augusta on Wednesday to play Harlem High School in a best of three series with two games on Wednesday and a third on Thursday if needed.
The Maids defeated Westover, Dougherty and Americus-Sumter last week and lost to Crisp County twice. Cairo defeated Westover on Tuesday and then lost to Crisp County.  The Maids came back with wins over Dougherty and Americus-Sumter on Wednesday before losing their final game to Crisp County on Thursday afternoon.
The Harlem Lady Bulldogs finished 5-0 in region play and 21-8-2 overall for the season. The Lady Bulldogs are from region 3B-AAA.
