Cairo is on the road to Worth Co. Friday

The Cairo Syrupmakers (6-0) load up Friday night and head to Sylvester to take on the Worth County Rams (4-3) at 7:30 p.m.. The Rams are riding a two game winning streak and are 2-1 in region play.  The Syrupmakers enter Friday night’s region battle undefeated at 6-0 and 2-0 in region play.
The Rams got everyone’s attention early in the season when they opened the year with a 32-26 double overtime win over Fitzgerald and then beat Turner County 49-12. However, the Rams would then lose three straight, 28-14 to Cook County, 27-7 to AAAAA Tift County, and 20-12 to Americus-Sumter.
Worth County then went on to pick up two region wins with a 28-15 victory over Westover and a close 21-20 win over Monroe last Friday night. Worth is averaging 23.3 points a game and has given up an average of 21.1 points a game.
“Worth always plays hard-nosed football, they have some experience back from last season and always play us hard,” said Cairo coach Tom Fallaw.
The Syrupmakers hold a big advantage in this match up losing only twice to the Rams since 1990. Cairo 24-11-1 overall against Worth County. Worth finished in third place in region 1-AAA last season, losing only to Cairo and Peach County.  The Rams lost in round one of the state playoffs to Woodward Academy 31-0.
