Funeral services are Wednesday for Melton Harrell

Services for Melton Harrell, 81, of Cairo, GA are at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the First Freewill Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. The Rev. Gus Turner will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Harrell passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at his residence.
Active pallbearers will be Sam, Tim, Kelvin, Kenneth, Brent and Davin Harrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Mobley, Casey Baggett, Randy Riffle, Eric Mitchell, L.C. Boyette, Ronnie Bell, James Adams and John Paul Boutwell.
Mr. Harrell was born October 11, 1928, in Bainbridge, GA to the late Conrad and Julia Sadler Harrell. He was a faithful member of First Freewill Baptist Church for over 50 years and was retired from the Higdon Grocery Company as a truck driver. Mr. Melton was loved and a friend to all who met him.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Wilma Day Harrell; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Peggy Harrell, Whigham, GA;  grandsons, Brent and Davin Harrell of Whigham, GA; a great-granddaughter, Morgan Harrell, Bainbridge, GA; sisters, Mary Baggett, Cairo, GA, Rosa Rutland, Cairo, GA; son-in-law, Frank Smith, Edgefield, SC; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a loving daughter Connie Smith; a sister Lucy Moneyham and brothers, Abron Harrell and Bobby Harrell.
