Charles Butler to be buried Thursday

Services for Charles Bell Butler, 78, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Calvary United Methodist Church, Calvary, GA, with interment following in Piedmont Cemetery, Calvary.  Rev. John Vanstone and Rev. Bill Gregg will officiate.  Mr. Butler passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010, at Grady General Hospital.   
Active pallbearers will be Dr. Mel Hartsfield, Fred Hartsfield, Bert Hartsfield, Lenny Butler, Miller Butler, Kenny Butler, Johnny Butler and Bob Maxwell.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Calvary Lions Club.
Mr. Butler was born April 17, 1932, in Cairo, GA, to the late Leonard E. and Margaret Bell Butler.  He was married to JoAnn McNair Butler, who survives, for 55 years.  Mr. Butler was a produce broker and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include:  wife, JoAnn M. Butler, Cairo, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Bob Jones, Cairo, GA, Karen and Mark Bishop, Cairo, GA and Lisa and Lewis Oliver, Cairo, GA;  grandchildren, Stacey Elrod (Craig), McDonough, GA, Bradley Jones, Athens, GA, Kellie Bishop, Valdosta, GA, Luke Oliver, Calvary, GA, Chaz Oliver, Athens, GA and Emily Oliver, Athens, GA; sister, Ann Hartsfield, Tallahassee, FL;  a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by a son, Mac Butler, his parents, Leonard E. and Margaret Butler, and brothers, Lewis Butler, Bud Butler and Claude Butler.
The family will receive friends at the Butler home.
