High school soccer season comes to an end

The Cairo Syrupmaker soccer team saw it’s season come to an end last Wednesday night at West Thomas Stadium.  The Syrupmakers were defeated by Troup County 3-2. Cairo led 2-1 at the half on two Lee Ponder goals.  However, Troup answered with two goals in the second half to win the game and end Cairo’s season.  The Syrupmakers made it to the second round of the state playoffs after winning the region 1-AAA championship for the third season in a row.
