Services for Charles J. “C. J.” Harrison, 70, of Cairo, GA, are at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2010, at El Bethel Baptist Church, Whigham, GA, with Rev. Bob Knight and Rev. Ronald Barrett officiating.  Burial will be in Pine Level Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Harrison passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at his residence.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Forrester, Wayne Johnson, Marcus Pearce, Ronald Johnson, Bobby Porter, Frank Pritchett.  Honorary pallbearers with be the men of El Bethel Baptist Church and the Cairo Fire Department.
Mr. Harrison was born on August 30, 1939, in Cairo, GA, to the late Leon Grady and Lessie Johnson Harrison.  He married Karen Barrett, August 18, 1963.  Their marriage of 46 years was one that was based on a love that never grew old, only stronger.  They were dedicated and devoted to each other’s needs and adored each other now as much as the first time they met.  C. J. served in the United States Army Reserves, was a fireman with the Cairo Fire Department, owned and operated his own trucking company and was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include:  his wife, Karen B. Harrison, Cairo, GA; sisters, Carolyn Hicks (Ted), Ochlocknee, GA, Barbara Lewis (Donnie), Thomasville, GA and Merlene Chastain (Tim), Thomasville, GA;  brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Barrett (Joyce), Cairo, GA, Jerry Barrett, Smyrna, GA, and Kay Whitfield (Don), Tifton, GA; a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and one great-great-niece.
Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Clark Funeral Home.
