Syrupmaker golfers place third

Cairo’s Thomas Bearden was the Region AAA low medalist.

The Cairo Country Club was once again the site for the region 1-AAA golf tournament.  The Cairo Syrupmakers finished third overall, just two strokes away from second place.  The Syrupmaids came in fifth overall, one stroke out of a fourth place finish.  Cairo’s Thomas Bearden was the region’s low medalist and has qualified for the state tourney.
In the boy’s match, Worth County won the region with a team score of  347, Perry was second at 362, and Cairo was third at 364. Peach County finished fourth with a score of 378, Westover was fifth with a 414, Crisp County finished in sixth place with a score of 425, next was Monroe with a 486, and Dougherty finished last with a 545 team score.
In the girl’s match, Perry was named region champ with a team score of 207, Westover was second with a 239, Worth County finished with a 255, Peach was next with a 261, Cairo was close with a 262, and Monroe finished with a 283.
Individual scores for the Syrupmakers in the region tournament was Thomas Bearden 75, the region’s low medalist, Clark Palmer 86, Daniel Coleman 101, Brock Bell 102, Cody Gainous 105, Hunter Pickles 106. Ashley Wells was Cairo’s low medalist, followed by Natalie Milko, and Caitlynne Cannington.
