Syrupmakers pick up first win of season

The Cairo Syrupmaker soccer team picked up their first win of the season Friday night, and it was a big one. Cairo beat Peach County in a region game 2-1 at West Thomas Stadium. The Syrupmaids were beaten by Peach County 6-3 in the first game of the night.
Cairo’s two goals in the win came from Lee Ponder and Nick Fusco. The Makers played solid defense, giving up  only one goal to the Trojans to pick up the region win.
Jessica Norris scored two goals for the Syrupmaids and Haley Brown had one in the 6-3 loss to the Lady Trojans in the first game of the night.
In junior varsity boys soccer, the Syrupmakers defeated TCCHS 1-0 on a goal by Lucas Kimmel, and beat Valdosta Monday 2-0 on goals by Robbie Thomas and Zack Brinkley.
