WMS wrestlers finish second in Tomcat Invitational

The Washington Middle School Tiger wrestling team placed second at the Tomcat Invitational Wrestling Tournament at Valdosta Middle School last Saturday. Over 200 wrestlers and 11 teams competed in the tournament. Valdosta finished first, with WMS second, Suwanee third, and Lowndes finished fourth.
Twelve of of Washington’s 18 wrestlers placed in the top four places in the tournament. “We had a great showing in the meet! We are excited about this group and see lots of potential with this team,” said WMS coach Kevin Elliott.
Individual honors went to Ryan Roberson in the 79 lb. division with a first place finish. Luke Elkins was first in the 114-lb. division, Tim Cleveland was first in the 128-lb. division, Michael Allen was first in the 206 -lb. division, and Brantavious Vicks was first in the 275 lb. division.
Second place finishes included Reggie Burden in the 114-lb. division, Kenny Smith 175 -lb., Harley Ponder 72-lb. division. Third place finishers were Read Elliott 65-lb. division, Wilder Elliott 86-lb. division, Michael Washington 155-lb. division and Frank Swain, fourth in the 135-lb. division.
The Tigers are coached by coaches Elliott and Greg Boyce.
