Washington Middle 7th Graders win championship

#21 MARCUS GAINES, a WMS Tiger fullback dives into the end zone Saturday to score. The WMS Tigers defeated the Americus-Sumter Panthers Saturday 28-8.

The Washington Tiger 7th graders won the 7th grade championship on
Saturday at West Thomas Stadium.  The Tigers defeated the
Americus-Sumter Panthers 28-8, to finish the season undefeated at 4-0.
The Tigers scored first on a 78 yard run by Jeremiah Hill with 4:41 to
go in the first quarter.  The two point conversion by Marcus Gaines gave
the Tigers an 8-0 lead.  WMS scored again on a 3 yard run by Marcus
Gaines with 3:19 to go in the second quarter, the two point try was no
good and the Tigers led 14-0 at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Tigers scored on a 4 yard run by
Jacorie Gaines, the two point try was no good and the Tigers led 20-0
with 3:17 to play in the game.
The Panthers scored their only points with 2:29 to play in the game on
an 80 yard run, making the two point play and cutting the Tigers’ lead
to 20-8.  However, the Washington Tigers would take the ball and drive
in one more score as Marcus Gaines scores from 10 yards out.  The Tigers
missed the 2 point conversion and won the game with a final score of 28-8.
