Ex-Syrupmakers get play time in college
Several former Syrupmaker football players are seeing playing time on the college level. Former Syrupmaker quarterback Angelo Pease has led Hutchinson College to 2-0 record with a 56-6 win over Highland Community College last week.
Pease was 5-15 passing for 55 yards, and rushed 7 times for 43 yards. J.J. Wilcox, who starts for Georgia Southern University, had two catches for 24 yards in the Eagles 44-6 loss to number 21 ranked South Dakota State. Johnathan Bryant, another former Syrupmaker, also slated to start for the GSU Eagles has been hampered by the flu bug over the last few weeks but should see playing time at wide receiver soon.
Former Syrupmakers Logan Bennett and Montavious WIlliams, now at the University of South Alabama, saw playing time on defense in their 30-13 win over Hargrave. Bennett had two assists and Williams had one defensively.
Former Syrupmaker Cameron Wade, now a Florida State Seminole, saw some playing time on special teams in the ‘Noles loss to Miami on Labor Day.
