Funeral services for James W. Rash are Wednesday

Mr. James Washington Rash, 85, died on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, in Orlando, Fla.  
Services for Mr. Rash were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at Pine Park Baptist Church Pine Park, Ga. The Rev. Gordon Cloud and the Rev. Carl Harrell officiated with interment following in the Pine Park Cemetery.  
Active pallbearers were Michael Harper, Shelby Powell, Jason Ogle, Phillip Sexton, Troy Rash and Wayne Rash Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Spencer Hayes, Garlin Brady, Bruce Fisher and Lynwood Cone.
Born on Mar. 28, 1924, in Dothan, Ala., he was the son of the late William Oscar Rash and Ida May Lloyd Rash. He married Helen Earlene Rash on Sept. 8, 1985, in Orlando, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a private in the 10th Infantry Regiment where he received the following decorations and citations: Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart (wounded April 1945), European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, and World War Two Victory Medal. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Pine Park Baptist Church, the American Legion, VFW and DAV.  
Survivors include: his wife, Helen Earlene Rash of Cairo Ga.; children, Wayne and Pamela Rash, Linda and Lou Stewart, and Deborah and Ralph Lackey; stepchildren, James and Joann Ogle, Billy Ogle and Tommy Ogle all of Orlando, Fla., Cheryl and Lynwood Cone of Thomasville, Ga., and Cynthia and Bruce Fisher of Palm Bay, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rash was preceded in death by his parents, William Oscar and Ida Mae Lloyd Rash.  
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Special Missions Fund, Grady County Baptist Association, 227 GA Hwy. 112 North, Cairo, GA 39827.
