Funeral for Leotis Smith is Saturday

Funeral services for Leotis “Smitty” Smith, 77, of Cairo, Ga., will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, 11 a.m. at the chapel of Clark Funeral Home in Cairo.  Interment with full military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo. Pastor Johnny Moore will officiate.
Active pallbearers are Chris Nowell, Terry Darsey, Dave Stewart, Terry Kelly, Wayne Morgan, Richard Castillo, John Lovett and United States Honor Guard Pallbearers.  
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009,  from 6 until 8 p.m.
Mr. Smith died on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.
Born June 13, 1932, in Vidalia, Ga., he was a son of the late George Washington Smith and Annie Elizabeth Hammock Smith. On Oct. 25, 1954, in Salinas, Calif., he married Annie Sanders Smith. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army and a member of Family Worship Center.
He is survived by his wife, Annie S. Smith, Cairo, Ga.; daughters and son-in-law, Ruth Longworth, Redding, Calif., Mary Ann Torik, Calif., Cheryl Phelps, Ochlocknee, Ga., and Barbara and Garret Godwin, Cairo, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Dina Smith, Cairo, Ga.; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, E. L. Smith, Roy Smith and Luther Smith; sisters, Roberta Smith Copeland, Ruby Smith Copeland and Maitland Smith Johnson.
