Services for Elder Leon Z. (Ted) Folmar, 93, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Piedmont Primitive Baptist Church, Calvary, Ga. Elder Bob Conner and Elder Gordon Smith will officiate and interment will follow at Piedmont Cemetery, Calvary, Ga.
Elder Folmar died at his home in Tallahassee, Fla., on Monday, June 22, 2009.
Active pallbearers are his grandsons, John McConnell, Sam Harnevious, Lee Folmar, Travis Folmar, Aaron Spitler, Alex Folmar, and Phillip Folmar. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the four churches in the Flint River Fellowship.
Born December 31, 1915, in Uriah, Alabama, he was a son of the late Elder Leon Z. Folmar, Sr. and Mattie Mae Bray Folmar. He married Edna Sasser Folmar, who survives on December 21, 1941. Elder Folmar was the former pastor of Piedmont Baptist Church for 35 years.
He is survived by: his wife, Edna Sasser Folmar of Tallahassee, Florida; daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine McConnell of Tallahassee, Florida, Debbie and Dan Spitler of Tallahassee, Florida; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Donna Folmar of Tallahassee, Florida, Mark and Peggy Folmar of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren, John and Lissa McConnell, Lee and Lisa Folmar, Travis Folmar, Chris Spitler, Aaron Spitler, Daniel Spitler, Alex and Kellie Folmar, Phillip Folmar, Charlene and Sam Harnevious, Sarah Folmar; great-grandchildren, Nathan McConnell, Jordan McConnell, Josh Harnevious, Noah Harnevious and Isabella Folmar; sister, Jean Stanley of Ormond Beach, Florida.
Elder Folmar was preceded in death by: his parents, Leon Z. Folmar, Sr. and Mattie Mae Bray Folmar; his son-in-law, John McConnell, his brothers, Aldon Folmar, Claude Folmar, Angus Folmar, Gordon Folmar, Macy Folmar; sisters, Marie Folmar Smith and Mabeth Folmar Willis.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM Wednesday evening, June 24, 2009, at the funeral home.
