Syrupmakers shut out Crisp County

The Cairo Syrupmaker baseball team took anther step toward clinching the region 1-AAA championship for the second year in a row with a 8-0 shutout over Crisp County Tuesday night at Cairo High School.

Hugh Russell Lee picked up the win, walking one and allowing only three hits, Lee also helped himself at the plate with a couple of big hits.  Devin Carpenter came on in the top of the seventh inning and three 9 nine pitches for nine straight strikes to end the game.

Tracy Asbell blasted a three homer in the win as well.  Perry defeated Peach County last night as well, so the Makers can wrap up the region championship by winning the rest of their games this week.  Wednesday night is Senior Night with the game beginning at 5:45.  Tomorrow night’s game begins at 5pm at home as well to wrap up the home schedule for the regular season.
