Season ends for Syrupmakers
The Cairo Syrupmakers basketball season ended Wednesday night in Atlanta at the “Sweet 16” of the state AAA playoffs. Cairo lost to South Atlanta High School 87-44 in round two fo the state playoffs.
The Syrupmakers had defeated Kendrick High School last Saturday night to make the next round and the right to play the number one team in the state. The South Atlanta team featured the number one prospect in the nation Derrick Favors, who is all the McDonald’s All American Player of the Year.
“He was a great player, but he was surrounded by some great players as well, I was really proud of our guys they played hard all year and gave it their best,” said Cairo coach Isiah Chance.
