Both Cairo team fall

The Westover Lady Patriots slipped by the Cairo Syrupmaids 44-41, while the Patriots defeat the Syrupmakers 61-45 Tuesday night in Albany at Westover High School.
The Syrupmaids got off to a slow start Tuesday night, trailing 9-0, but battled back and hung close, as Cairo’s Kierra Addison cut the Westover lead to 43-41. Cairo had a chanc to tie, but their shot was blocked with 5 second to play in the game.JaCourtney Alexander led the Maid with 10 points and Kierra Addison added nine in the region loss.
Meanwhile the Syrupmakers had a poor shooting night against the Patriots and trailed 33-17 at the half, and suffered through a 14-0 run by the Patriots in the second half. Kentrail brown led the Makers with 12 points.
Cairo will host Monroe Friday night at the Cairo Gym at 6pm. Friday night’s region match up has very serious implications for both teams going into the region tournament next week.
