CHS swimmers are region champs!

THE CHS SYRUPMAIDS swim team won the region championship Tuesday.

The Cairo High School swim teams brought home second place finishes in the region 1-AAA swim meet held Tuesday at Albany State University.  The Makers were just 4.5 points behind region winner Westover, and the Syrupmaids finished second tied with Perry High School and were named runners up by virtue of a coin toss.

The Syrupmakers had six region champions with James Bowen bringing home the gold in  the 100 m butterfly, and 500m freestyle, and a gold medal along with teammates Tommy Mattis, Robin Kemp and Trey Kimmel in the 200m medley relay. Cody Posey brought home a region championship in the 200m freestyle, and Lee Cox won a region championship in the 200m individual medley.

Meanwhile, the Syrupmaids brought home individual region championships with Jennifer Lane’s first place finish in the 50m freestyle, and 100m backstroke, and Kelly Prince was a region champion in the 100m freestyle.
