The Cairo Syrupmaids and Syrupmakers picked up two big region wins on the road Tuesday night at Crisp County in Cordele. The Syrupmaids beat the Lady Cougars 56-53 while the Makers defeated Crisp County 67-62.
Cairo’s JaCourtney Alexander led all scorers with 17 points, while Lakisha Simon scored eight of her 11 points in the final quarter, in which the Maids poured in 23 points to pick up the win.
In the boy’s game, Darrie Stephens had 16, while Kendrick Kelly had 13 and Kentrail Brown added 12 as the Makers edged the Cougars 67-62. The Makers are now 5-4 in region play and 1-5 overall.
Both teams will be back home this Friday night at 6pm against Peach County and will be in Bainbridge Saturday night at 6pm as well.
