The Georgia Bureau of Investigations and local law enforcement are continuing their probe into the May 10 shooting death of Derrick Herring of Cairo.
Jamy Steinberg, G.B.I. special agent in charge, says, “Still interviewing and identifying witnesses in this case. We have not made any arrests to this point. We are getting cooperation from the community and also have been assisted by the Grady County Sheriff’s Office.”
Cairo Police found Herring when they were called to the area of Eighth Street, N.W. around 1:30 a.m. that Monday to investigate a report of shots being fired. Herring was lying on the roadside in the 800 block.
Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call the G.B.I. at (229) 225-4090, or the Cairo Police Department at (229) 378-3096.
