Members of the Whigham Community Club have decided to cancel the 2021 Rattlesnake Roundup.
The club announced this week that the annual fund raiser, which was originally moved from January to March due to COVID-19 concerns, will now be canceled altogether.
The club issued the following statement, “We had hoped the COVID-19 risks would have been on the decrease, but as you probably are aware, that is not the case.”
The club members decided to cancel now rather than wait until too close to the rescheduled date of March 6 for the sake of vendors who bring arts and crafts, food and entertainment.
Traditionally, the roundup is held on the last Saturday of January, but last fall, the club announced it was moving the 2021 event to March 6 in hopes of the pandemic easing by then.
