“We have several quality candidates and began interviewing last Friday,” says Seth Stanaland, immediate past chairman of the chamber who is overseeing the hiring process. “We should be able to find a quality director among the candidates we have so far.”
Courtney King is serving as the chamber’s interim executive director, a position she has held since former director Trey Gainous resigned in April 2020.
Due to restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, Stanaland, who was chamber chairman at the time, announced last spring that King would serve as interim for an extended period of time, and they would advertise the position to the public in early 2021.
With advertising closed and interviews underway, Stanaland says he is optimistic that the chamber will announce the permanent candidate soon.
“We should officially name the new director in the next several weeks,” he said.
