The 95th annual meeting of the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce membership will no doubt be one for the history books.
Interim Executive Director Courtney King says this year’s meeting will be virtual due to COVID-19. The meeting will be streamed live via a link on the chamber’s Facebook page and the chamber website beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30.
“We will be recognizing our new chairperson, the chamber award winners as well as our new and retiring directors,” King said.
The winners of the Farm Family of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Community Service Award, Young Professional of the Year, Woman of the Year, Man of the Year and the Chamber’s “Above and Beyond” award will be announced.
Barbara Darus, Grady County’s tax commissioner, will be installed as the chamber’s new chairperson and will take the reins from outgoing chair Seth Stanaland.
The 2020 board included Dr. Zita Magloire, Russell Pollock, Barbara Darus, Brandie Cecil, Charles Renaud, Dr. Keri Hartsell, Stephen Francis, Thad LeGette, and Chairman Stanaland.
Stanaland, Dr. Magloire and Pollock will rotate off the board and newly elected directors will be announced Saturday night.
“We are sorry we cannot celebrate all together as a group, but we invite everyone to join us for this special virtual meeting Saturday night,” King said.
