Investigators with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a local man in connection to a murder investigation in Illinois, and are holding another local man and an Illinois woman for questioning in the same case.
Officers in Augusta, Illinois contacted the Grady County Sheriff’s Office about the case on Monday, and at 11:23 a.m., drug agents along with a sheriff’s investigator, three deputies, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent and one Georgia Department of Natural Resources officer acted on information about the location of the murder suspect, Cody Jack Johnson, 24.
Michael Logue, drug unit commander, says officers found Johnson in the back room of a house on Mill Creek Lane, and after clearing the house took Johnson into custody without incident.
The Grady County officers soon learned there were two other persons of interest wanted for questioning in the murder investigation, an unnamed 23-year-old female from Augusta, Illinois, and Michael Armando Garcia, 24, of Grady County.
“Officers acted quickly and located the two at a residence on Airport Road. Both were taken into custody without further incident,” Logue states in a news release.
Johnson was being held in the Grady Detention Center Tuesday on a warrant for homicide out of Illinois, Logue said.
Garcia was booked on several outstanding misdemeanor warrants and he along with the unidentified female were being held Tuesday for questioning in the case.
Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call the Grady County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 377-5200 and ask to speak with a deputy.
