The Whigham Community Club has announced they are moving the date of the 61st Rattlesnake Roundup two months later than usual next year due to COVID-19 concerns.
Traditionally held on the last Saturday of January, the Community Club fund raiser is moving to the first Saturday in March during 2021.
In addition to the new time, the club is also making another big change by eliminating hunted snakes at the roundup. Instead, Jason Clark with the Southeastern Reptile Rescue will provide educational displays that will include the handling and exhibition of snakes.
Music, vendors and food trucks will provide plenty of entertainment, shopping and culinary experiences for visitors to the Rattlesnake Grounds in Whigham. Further details of the annual festival will be announced closer to roundup time on March 6.
