Holiday meal to be served Sunday at W.M.S.

For many years now those less fortunate in Grady County have been provided a Christmas meal during the holiday season. This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of the late Wyman Richter, who along with Bill Bass Sr., the Rev. Dellise Cox, the Rev. Dr. Ron McCaskill, and Charles M. Stafford organized the annual holiday meal and ensured the financial resources to see that members of the community who would like a meal were provided one.
The Grady County Ministerial Association works with community partners to host the annual event, which will be held Sunday, Dec. 13 at Washington Middle School. The holiday meal will be served from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the school’s cafeteria.
“We are proud to continue this tradition in Wyman Richter’s memory and in honor of the men and women who worked with him from the beginning and continue to do so today. Please feel free to come and enjoy a meal in a safe, healthy way,” said the Rev. Christy Bandy of the Grady County Ministerial Association and pastor of Cairo First United Methodist Church.
According to the Rev. Bandy, participants can dine at the cafeteria in a socially, physically distanced arrangement or they are welcome to get a to-go plate to enjoy at home.
“We invite all who will come to join us this Sunday,” the Rev. Bandy said.
