Cairo Police are investigating an unsuccessful bank robbery attempt in Cairo Friday morning.
At 10:53 a.m., a tall man walked up to a teller’s station at Five Star Credit Union on U.S. 84 and gave her a note that stated, “give me 100’s and 50’s.”
The teller told the man that she needed his account number, and he replied, “ma’am?” according to Cairo Police. The teller told police that she advised him a second time that she needed his account number, and told him he could enter it into a keypad at her station.
The man then told the banker that he would go to his car to get the account number, and she saw him exit the bank walking west. He did not return, and no money was taken, according to Cairo Police.
The suspect is described as a tall black male, wearing a black face mask, black stocking cap, black jacket, khaki pants and red shoes.
The case was turned over to Cairo Police investigator Johnny Myers. Anyone with information that could assist police in the case is asked to call (229) 378-3096.
