The Grady County Board of Commissioners tabled approval of the minutes of its Nov. 3, 2020 meeting after objections were raised by Commissioner LaFaye Copeland.
Commissioner Copeland charged that although the county has an audio recording of the meetings, some of the issues discussed by the board do not appear in the official meeting minutes.
“Some things were not included that I wanted to be included,” Commissioner Copeland said.
Grady County administrator J.C. (Buddy) Johnson III, who participated in the meeting via conference call, requested the commissioner be specific in what she wished to add and it would be up to the board whether or not to amend the minutes as requested. Johnson said if there is something in the minutes that is incorrect “certainly we need to make changes,” however, he said the minutes were to record the official actions of the board, but not every topic of discussion. “There’s a lot of commentary that is not in the minutes,” he said.
The administrator suggested the board table approval to allow time for Commissioner Copeland to share with the staff and board what specifically needed to be considered for inclusion in the Nov. 3 minutes.
