The 82nd annual meeting of the membership of Grady Electric Membership Corporation will be held next week and members may begin pre-registering at the E.M.C. headquarters beginning Monday, Oct. 12.
Registered members will have the opportunity to win bill credits that can be applied to their monthly utility bill, according to Grady E.M.C. marketing and member services manager, Adam Starr.
The grand prize will be a $500 bill credit. Other prizes include two $250 bill credits to be given away as well as 82 – $82 bill credits commemorating the co-op’s 82nd anniversary.
Pre-registration takes place at E.M.C. headquarters Monday, Oct. 12 through Thursday, Oct. 15.
This year’s annual meeting will take place virtually in order to keep members and E.M.C. employees safe, according to Starr.
Members may vote and register their attendance in-person on the day of the annual meeting, Friday, Oct. 16, beginning at 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Family Worship Center. The annual meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and it can be viewed on the co-op’s website gradyemc.com or by tuning in to WGRA 790-AM/95.9-FM.
Voters in the E.M.C. District 3 will vote between incumbent Jimmy Hammett and challenger Dr. Ashley Register for the board seat.
Prior to 2020, the entire membership was allowed to vote for directors in the various districts.
The only other seat up for election this year is for District 3 and incumbent Lee Powell is unopposed.
The E.M.C. has once again contracted with Survey & Ballot Systems of Eden Prairie, MN to conduct the absentee voting for the election of directors. Paper ballots were to have been mailed back with a post mark no later than Oct. 6 to be included in the vote count, according to Starr.
For more information about the annual meeting or the election of directors call the co-op at (229) 377-4182.
