Laura B. Register
Laura Register of Cairo is joining the management team of a public affairs law firm in Atlanta. Register will be a senior policy advisor with Capitol Affairs, Inc., a public affairs and public policy firm.
Register, 55, has been active in local politics since she moved to Grady County in 1992. She was elected and served 13 years on the Grady County Board of Education, finishing her final term last December. She has worked on several issues statewide including public education, teen pregnancy prevention and women’s health. She is currently the chair of Georgia’s WINList, and was recently selected as a member of the 2020-2021 Georgia Education Policy Fellowship Program that is part of the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education. During the last legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly, Register worked with Sen. Jen Jordan (D-Atlanta) as a legislative and political adviser focusing on rural and education issues.
Register and her husband of 33 years, Dr. Ashley Register, live south of Cairo, and they have three grown children.
