A Grady County woman is charged in the Sunday shooting death of her husband. Desiree Michelle Green, 34, was charged Monday and placed in the Grady Detention Center.
Green, who resides at 4945 GA 111 N, Ochlocknee, is accused of shooting and killing her husband, Joseph Charles Green, 35, during a domestic dispute.
She is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and cruelty to children in the first degree, according to information from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
At 2:56 p.m. Sunday, the Grady County Sheriff’s Office asked the G.B.I. to investigate the case.
Green’s body was sent to the G.B.I. Crime Lab on Monday for an autopsy, according to Jamy Steinberg, G.B.I. special agent in charge.
Green’s identification was not released until Tuesday afternoon after authorities had notified additional next of kin.
Steinberg said early on that the case was being treated as a homicide “based on evidence recovered at the scene and information learned thus far in the investigation.”
The special agent in charge says the case is active and ongoing, and asks that anyone with information to call the G.B.I. at (229) 225-4090 or Grady County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 377-5200.
