THE REV. Henry L. Flowers, III
On Sunday, the Cairo High School Class of 2020 was scheduled to gather for the annual baccalaureate service at the C.H.S. gymnasium, but due to COVID-19 those plans had to be canceled.
However, the service will go on virtually on Facebook live. The special guest speaker for the event will be a 1987 graduate of Cairo High School.
The Rev. Henry L. Flowers III, pastor of the First African Baptist Church of West Bainbridge, will be the keynote speaker.
The Rev. Flowers, in addition to being an alumnus of C.H.S., is the son of distinguished retired Grady County educator Ann Flowers and the late Rev. Henry L. Flowers Jr.
“We are excited to welcome Rev. Flowers back as our baccalaureate speaker. I have had the privilege of hearing the Rev. Flowers preach and he certainly brings an inspiring message. I am certain that he will challenge our seniors on Sunday,” Cairo High School principal Chris Lokey said.
The event begins at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Log in to the Cairo High School Facebook page to watch it live, or Lokey says the broadcast will be available there for viewing later.
“We regret that we are unable to hold the traditional in-person baccalaureate ceremony, but we believe it will be a fantastic program nonetheless. Our seniors certainly deserve the very best and Cairo High School and the Grady County School System are doing everything possible to recognize our students for their outstanding achievements,” Mr. Lokey said.
