Donations sought to publish
magazine featuring honor grads
Cairo High School educators want to showcase members of the Class of 2020 and the support of the community is needed.
Plans are being finalized for two upcoming special events. On Thursday night, the high school will host its virtual Senior Honors Night program on Facebook live beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will be broadcast from the C.H.S. Auditorium. The class valedictorian and salutatorian will be named and honor graduates will be recognized in addition to other senior class achievements.
“We regret we are unable to host our traditional honors night program, but due to the circumstances we are trying to make lemonade out of lemons. We love, honor and respect our senior class and we want to let them know just how proud we are of them. Tune into Facebook Thursday night and join Cairo High School in celebrating the accomplishments of these outstanding young men and women,” said C.H.S. principal, Chris Lokey.
The school is also soliciting donations for a very special project. Due to COVID-19, the school is unable to host its annual Honor Graduate Banquet where each honor graduate is recognized and the student in turn has the opportunity to honor his or her chosen educator.
Since a banquet is not possible this year, a committee at the high school is planning to publish a special “Honor Graduate Magazine” with a page featuring each honor graduate. There are 53 honor graduates in this year’s class and school officials say they want to spotlight each one.
Anyone interested in contributing to this effort should contact Brandi Adkins (firstname.lastname@example.org), Austin LeGette (email@example.com), or Katie Meissner (firstname.lastname@example.org). These high school teachers can advise donors on the best way to get their donation to the school.
