Equestrian Anna Diamond of Cairo has earned fifth place honors in a Southeastern ranking by the United States Hunter Jumper Association. The Cairo High School freshman and her horse, Southern Grace, accumulated enough points from approved horse shows during the last year to earn the recognition.
The ranking is part of U.S.H.J.A.’s Outreach Program, and Anna competed in the Outreach Hunters 2’6” class.
Also included in the competition are other junior and adult riders from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi and South Carolina, according to her mother, Cynthia Diamond.
Anna says she has been riding horses since she was 6, and now competes in shows about twice a month. She trains five days a week at M.C.F. Equestrian in Whigham under the direction of Emily Andrews and Crystal Rutten.
Anna is the daughter of Cynthia and Mike Diamond of Cairo and granddaughter of Sammie Harper, also of Cairo.
