The Broad Street railroad crossing is scheduled to be closed for repairs Monday and tentatively reopen by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Local residents are advised that the Broad Street crossing of the C.S.X. Railroad will be closed Monday, March 23, beginning at approximately 8 a.m., according to Cairo city manager Chris Addleton. The city manager reported Friday that Ultico Railroad Services Inc., crews will repair the recent work done to the crossing, which has been the source of numerous complaints stating that the crossing was rougher than before recent “improvements” were made. According to Addleton, Ultico officials anticipate reopening the crossing by 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 24. The city manager says that this is a tentative schedule dependent on weather and other conditions. Addleton encourages motorists to make plans accordingly.
