An argument between two juveniles at an informal gathering of teenagers resulted in one male being stabbed at least twice last week.
Cairo Police were called to the stabbing that allegedly took place in the parking lot of Cairo Crossing Shopping Center on Eighth Avenue Northeast, on Tuesday, March 3 at 8:39 p.m.
When Officer Kris Weaver arrived, he saw witnesses applying pressure to the victim’s wounds, one on the left side of his back and another on the back of his head.
The victim, 16, told officer Weaver that he knew the offender who started hitting his pickup truck’s window after they argued.
While telling the offender to stop, the victim said he pushed his way between the offender and the truck, and a physical altercation broke out and that is when he was stabbed.
Witnesses reported seeing the incident.
The offender was located at a nearby business on U.S. 84, and officers say they found a folding pocket knife in his possession.
The juvenile, 15, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime.
He was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Thomasville where he remains in custody, according to Cairo Police Investigator Dewayne Pearson.
