BILLY RIGSBY and his band will be performing at the 94th annual meeting of the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce Saturday night at the Grady Cultural Center.
Members of the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce and guests are in for a treat this Saturday night, according to chamber officials, as the organization hosts its 94th annual membership meeting at the Grady Cultural Center.
Chamber Executive Director Trey Gainous has planned an event that is more of a party and celebration than past annual meetings and he moved the event to a Saturday night.
For many years, the chamber banquet has been held on Monday evenings in late January, but Gainous said the membership has requested a transition to a weekend event.
Gainous reports that 225 tickets have been sold and approximately 175 are left and can be purchased.
“This Friday, Jan. 24 is the cut-off. This promises to be a great night out with an organization that puts all its energy into the community and its members. We hope you will come out and enjoy it with us,” Gainous said.
The evening will kick off with a cocktail hour beginning at 5 p.m. The program and dinner will begin at 6 p.m. At approximately 6:50 p.m. new and retiring board members will be recognized and the annual citizens awards will be presented.
Then, at 8 p.m., The Billy Rigsby Band will take the stage and an evening of great music and dancing is planned, according to Gainous.
Local residents may remember The Billy Rigsby Band was featured last October at one of the downtown concert events.
The Billy Rigsby Band, which was formed by Rigsby in Tallahassee, Fla., has a soulful style inspired by the music of Marvin Gaye, Al Greene, Michael Jackson and Robert Cray. Rigsby and the band have been performing since the late 1990s and have opened for some of the biggest names in the music industry, including James Brown and Earth, Wind and Fire. The ensemble also performs frequently at the Bradfordville Blues Club.
Contact the chamber at (229) 377-3663 for tickets or stop by the office on North Broad Street.
