Monday is holiday, but not for garbage pickup

Federal and state offices as well as local financial institutions will be closed Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day, but Grady County and the Cities of Cairo and Whigham offices will be open.
This will mean that residential garbage pickup will maintain the normal schedule in Cairo and will be picked up Monday.
City residents who have Monday service are reminded to roll out their containers to the side of the street on Sunday night.
For many years, the county has observed Veterans Day, but the county commission made the decision to offer county employees Christmas Eve as a paid holiday and eliminated Veterans Day as a paid holiday.
Grady County Administrator J.C. (Buddy) Johnson III, said county employees who are able will be in attendance at Monday’s observance.
