A Cairo man was killed in a one vehicle accident Monday south of Cairo. Robin Dayne Croley, 53, was a passenger in the front seat of an SUV that wrecked Monday around 11 a.m. on GA 93, according to the Georgia State Patrol. A 30-year-old Cairo woman, Atlanta Johnson, was driving the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer at the time of the accident. Johnson faces vehicular homicide and driving under the influence charges in connection to the crash that took Croley’s life.
The pair were driving North on GA 93 when the vehicle crossed the center line, began to rotate counter clockwise, then hit a ditch and became airborne, according to Trooper Nick Johnson with the G.S.P. The SUV struck several trees then came to rest upside down. Croley was ejected in the accident, Trooper Johnson reports. Whether he was wearing a seatbelt or not remains under investigation.
Atlanta Johnson, who was wearing a seatbelt, according to Trooper Johnson, suffered minor injuries in the accident. She was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville by ambulance, but was not listed as a patient Tuesday.
