Cairo Police are investigating a stabbing Monday night that happened on 12th Street Northeast shortly after 11 p.m. The victim, Juan Perez, was stabbed in the chest. Through a translator, Perez told Cairo Police that after he was stabbed he made his way to the translator’s home. The translator took the victim to a home in the 1300 block of 10th Avenue Northeast where the offender was then located, but the offender, a second man and one woman fled into a nearby wooded area before police arrived. The stabbing had taken place at the fleeing woman’s home.
Grady EMS arrived on the scene and transported Perez to Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville.
The woman who had fled with the offender was later found walking in an area between 10th Avenue Northeast and 13th Street Northeast. Allegedly appearing intoxicated, she was charged with disorderly conduct/public drunk.
A 2007 Dodge Caliber that reportedly belonged to the offender was towed from the home in the 1300 block of 10th Avenue.
The scene of the stabbing, on 12th Street, was turned over to Cairo Police investigators who are continuing to probe the case.
