Repairs on a south Grady County roadway will require a temporary closure beginning Monday, according to Grady County road superintendent Stanley Elkins.
Elkins reported this week that Mccraeville Road in the southern part of the county will be completely closed beginning Monday, Sept. 16 through Thursday, Sept. 19 or until the road repair project is completed.
“We are dependent on weather and equipment, but we will reopen the road just as soon as we can,” Elkins said.
According to Elkins, crews will be digging out the bad road base and replacing it with a stronger, better base.
Motorists should detour Mccraeville Road east of the intersection with Piedmont Road by taking 179 to Swamp Creek Road, then onto Piedmont Road to access Mccraeville Road.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” Elkins said.
