JOHNNIE MARSHALL Blues Band performed a free benefit concert Saturday in support of the Whigham Volunteer Community Council.
Hometown musician Johnnie Marshall Blues Band sang the night away to a crowd of about 100 in Whigham Saturday, helping his neighbors continue to celebrate the patriotic holiday of July 4th. “Whigham Stars and Stripes” concert was presented by Whigham Volunteer Community Council in the City Park beginning at 7 p.m. Although the weather seemed unpredictable, it turned out to be a cool night with only overcast skies.
Brandi Adkins also participated in the evening, serenading the crowd with her rendition of the National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
“Most brought their chairs, sat back and enjoyed the music, a few even danced in the background,” says community council member Jane Trulock. “The sidewalk was lined up at one point. Many folks also enjoyed shopping at This Is Home For Us.”
The free concert was a benefit for the community council, which sold drinks and snacks during the show.
