COMPLETED WHEELCHAIRS and their proud builders, members of CollegeMAKERS at CHS.
CollegeMAKERS at Cairo High School held an unusual activity as part of its Leadership Quest for participating students. In addition to challenging their teamwork and leadership skills, Tuesday’s program also helped the community.
The rising freshmen at Cairo High School worked together as teams to assemble three wheelchairs. Then, they tested the finished products during a relay style race. The finished products were donated to organizations in Grady County, including the Cairo Masonic Lodge, according to Program Director Carol Willis.
CollegeMAKERS Talent Search works with a select number of CHS students who are interested in post-secondary education. Federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education’s TRIO program, it is free to the local high school students.
