Local trio swept up in federal drug raid last week

Three Cairo men are behind bars, arrested last week during a federal drug investigation here that also included the arrest of a Thomasville man. Federal, state and local officers executed search warrants at the homes of five addresses in Cairo and one in Thomasville on Wednesday, June 12.
During the searches, officers confiscated drugs, weapons, illegally possessed prescription medications and approximately $20,000 in cash, according to Charles “Charlie” Peeler, the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.
Search warrants were executed at these Cairo addresses: 159 Alison Dr., 274 Temple Terrace Cir., 2848 Bark Ave., 1094 Woodland Road and 91 13th Ave., SW. A home at 628 Marshall Street, Thomasville, was also searched.
Orry Rashod Bell, Kentrail Rashard Brown, and Joseph Jones III, all of Cairo.
Bell, 32, is being held in the Grady Detention Center on charges of possession of arms by a convicted felon and first offender probation, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of amphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Hydrocodone with intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute, possession of morphine with intent to distribute, possession of Alphrazolam with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Brown, 28, is being held in the Grady Detention Center on charges of trafficking in cocaine, illegal drug or marijuana, felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes and tampering with evidence.
Jones, 29, is being held in the Grady Detention Center on charges of trafficking in cocaine, illegal drug or marijuana, possession of a controlled substance Hydrocodone, possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes and tampering with evidence.
Tobias Sanders was arrested in Thomas County and remains in the Thomas County Jail, according to Peeler.
The joint law enforcement operation involved the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Grady County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas Vice/Narcotics Squad and Cairo Police Department.
